“A human and a vampire. An Assassin and his target. They made an impossibility possible, despite his past, despite their present. They had the future—they had Eternity.”

Ryu Takamura is the Dark Ones’ Assassin. He has never missed his target…until now. Until her.

Ava Monroe is a talented geneticist who holds the key to the vampire race’s future…and perhaps her own as well.

Their attraction is explosive from the first. She would do anything to have him. He would sacrifice all to protect her.

But will their love triumph over seemingly impossible odds as they battle enemies new and old? Especially the demons from Ryu’s past? And deep within his heart?

REVIEW:

This is the third book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. Dr Ava Monroe meets Ryu on a plane travelling to Tokyo, while Ava is a geneticist and her work is her life. The moment she meets him she is captivated and he is all she can think about.
Ryu is a vampire one of the dark ones as he was made. He is tracking Ava because of the research she is involved, and the research team she has come to work with.
This is an enjoyable series, and another exciting take on the vampire world. Ava was funny with her comments that should have stayed in her head. I absolutely loved Ryu he was HOT. That’s all for now I’m not spoiling the story, so you have to read it yourself.

About the Author

Aja has been writing stories since the age of six, and novels since the age of thirteen. While she’d be the first to admit that those early efforts weren’t particularly good, she sure loved putting them down on paper!

The best part of writing, according to Aja, is that it’s completely organic, the way the stories develop. When the inspiration hits, she writes just so she herself can learn where the characters are headed because oftentimes, they take her by surprise! It is her ultimate dream to share her stories with as many readers as she possibly can.

Her other loves include art, cooking, old movies (anything with Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Robert Redford, Vivien Leigh, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Clark Gable, and all the song and dance numbers because she can’t watch them and not be happy!)

She adores taking long walks with her husband and running after her two rambunctious kids. She has traveled extensively (all seven continents except Antarctica) and has had a multi-cultural upbringing. She speaks two and a half languages and binge watch TV shows when the mood strikes.

Aja has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Comparative Literature and Economics and two Master’s degrees, one of which is in East Asian Studies.

Audiobook Review Tour: A WITCH’S CONCERN ( A Witch’s Path Book 4 ) By N. E. CONNEELY, Narrated by JEFF HAYS and LAUREL CATHERINE WINKEL

Author: N.E. Conneely

Narratora: Jeff Hays, Laurie Catherine Winkel

Series: A Witch’s Path, Book 4

Length: 7 hours 25 minutes

Publisher: N.E. Conneely

Released: Jan. 16, 2018

Genre: Paranormal, Supernatural

Michelle has been figuring out what her life is like now that the demon has been killed, and Sylvia and Varro are dead. Even the clans of witches trying to attract her to their way of life have backed off and given her a chance to grieve. Her relationship with Elron is stronger than ever, but there are things left unsaid.

On the way to her parents’ wedding, the delicate calm she’d been living in is broken. Witches are out for her blood, her family is caught in the crossfire, and friendships are threatened. Work doesn’t let up either, and she partners up with Elron to deal with magic gone wild. Michelle finds that her problems are larger than one clan of witches, and is forced to choose between the people she holds dear and the way of life she loves.

This is the fourth book in a series, following A Witch’s Trial. It is a standalone novel, however, your experience will be greatly enhanced if you’ve heard the previous books.

N.E. Conneely lives in northern Georgia with her dog and a mountain of books. They sweat through the summer and freeze through the winter, and life as they know it comes to an end when so much as a single snowflake falls out of the sky. For fun, N.E. plays with her dog, reads, knits, crochets, paints, and does tie-dyeing and origami. She makes a great pizza and is currently negotiating with her husband about raising sea monkeys and growing a vegetable garden.

Jeff Hays has made a name for himself in the audio book world by creating immersive experiences out of his productions. His versatility and authenticity in voicing characters, expressive low-impact narration, and dedication to offering the highest quality audio possible has earned him a loyal following of listeners. Having been fascinated with sound since he can remember, Jeff takes his background of composing and producing music, and his continual consumption of the avalanche of fictional media we all experience in these modern times, and uses it to inform his style of story telling in the audiobook realm.

And now, having produced more than 80 audio books and perfecting his craft, using the namesake of his live streaming narration show, the Soundbooth Theater shingle has been hung. Soundbooth Theater is dedicated to applying Jeff’s production methods to new audio books with other budding narrator talent, and expanding his scope from audio books, to voicing and producing animation.

Narrator Bio

Laurie got into voiceover by studying with the legendary dialect expert Paul Meier and hosting the teen program for a nonprofit for the blind, Kansas Audio Reader. She speaks French fluently and, before diving into audiobooks, lived and performed for some time in France. She’s racking up some bizarre credits, playing a range of characters onscreen from Disney princesses to horror scream queens, and proving her audio versatility by narrating everything from cowboy romances to action-packed GameLit fantasy trolls. You can also catch her in a few VR video games. Her favorite is playing confident, power-hungry, whip-smart anti-heroines.

Like Jeff Hays, she hails from the Kansas City area but currently lives in Atlanta.

WebsiteFacebookInstagramAudible

We start with Michelle on the way to her parents wedding when she gets a puncture, when a car stops Michelle realises this was trap, and was kidnapped by witches from her mother’s former coven.
Michelle has grown without a coven, and she wants stay Clan less. Elron and Michelle’s relationship grows slow and steady. This is about her parents and her grandmothers, and one of her grandmother Gretchen is determined to have Michelle in her Coven.
This is more about family, and the lengths some go to get their own way. This is more about love from a family Michelle had never met on her father side.
This is an excellent story, and we understand more about how destiny catches up Michelle whether she likes or not.
Great narration Jeff’s male voices were very distinctive and I knew who was speaking every time. Laurel is Michelle and conjures her personality exactly. This is my fourth  audiobook in the series and everyone feels like old friends ( not the baddies ) received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Jeff Hays. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Q&A with Laurie Catherine Winkel

  • How did you wind up narrating audiobooks? Was it always your goal or was it something you stumbled into by chance?
    • Well, I was encouraged to do so by my professor, Paul Meier, who I had no idea was a big name in the audiobook world for his dialect coaching and founding the IDEA archives. I kind of stumbled into it later when I was asked to audition for a program called Kansas Audio Reader in college, which was a specialized radio broadcast for the blind. For three years I ran a program reading YA books for blind teens. I had no idea it was going to be so relevant to my life.
  • Did you find it difficult to “break into” audiobook narration? What skill/tool helped you the most when getting started?
    • Because I had unknowingly gained all that experience in nonprofit, and training in my acting work, I found the performance pretty accessible. What was throw-your-headphones-at-the-wall infuriating was all the tech! I am not a tech-savvy person, and learning even the basic specs of audio recording was a huge struggle. When troubleshooting one of my first home-recorded books, I spent so much time on internet forums that my eyes dried out and I got a twitch. But there’s a lot of help available on the internet if you ask the right questions.
  • A lot of narrators seem to have a background in theatre. Is that something you think is essential to a successful narration career?
    • I think a theatre background is an excellent addition to any performance-based career. You simply won’t get the same depth from acting into a vacuum all the time. Speaking into a microphone feels like that to me — we are our own directors, coaches, and engineers.
  • What type of training have you undergone?
    • I studied with Paul Meier, one of the top dialect coaches in the world. I have a BA in theatre from the University of Kansas. And I’m always taking acting classes. Any serious actor should never stop learning and coaching.
  • How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for narrating?
    • Honestly, I get burned out vocally before mentally. I have to take breaks and rotate with other projects.
  • Are you an audiobook listener? What about the audiobook format appeals to you?
    • Absolutely. I have to drive a lot, so I cycle between about a dozen audiobooks and podcasts at any given time.

Audiobook Blog Tour: STRAY By NATASHA STORIES, Narrated Sierra Kline and Jeffrey Kafer

Author: Natasha Stories

Narrators: Sierra Kline and Jeffrey Kafer

Length: 7 hours 32 minutes

Publisher: Ashton Publishing Group

Released: Feb. 15, 2018

Genre: Contemporary Romance

From best-selling author Natasha Stories.

Erin Timms took a new job as a veterinarian in Sunshine, Colorado, for two important reasons: to get away from her ex, and to give herself a chance at a new life. But when devastating news of her ex follows her there, she begins to think she has made a terrible mistake.

Tall, stunning-looking Jon Miles had only one goal: to save the mountain canyon where Sunshine is located from businessmen who want to exploit it. But how can he do that when he is already an outcast?

There was nothing to suggest they’d ever meet, much less strike a spark of red-hot romance. Except that Erin can never turn away a stray….

I’m Natasha, and I write romance and erotic romance stories. I love reading too, and some of my favourite novels are books like Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James, the Fade series by Kate Dawes, as well as the Crossfire series.

He has narrated over 450 books in almost every genre for such authors Clive Barker, Steve Alten, Maya Banks, Gregg Olsen and many others. He has 2 degrees in cinema and broadcasting and spent the first part of his career as a video game tester for Microsoft before following his true passion of acting. He’s been on stage since he was 13 (his mom still has the bellhop costume she made) and currently lives in Los Angeles with his family and dog.

Erin Timms finds herself starting her life over in the small town of Sunshine, Colorado. She’s a vet and after a breakup with her ex she’s left Dallas, Texas and is trying small town life, which as she comes to experience is very different. She encounters Jon Miles one evening when he brings a stray dog he’s just hit with his car, now Jon’s really hot. Every time Erin sees him she gets tongue tied, or rubbish comes of her month.
Jon is bowled over by Erin and is definitely interested. Unfortunately both parties have a lot of unresolved issues, which keeps them apart. So there lots of unresolved angst from Erin, which the Sierra brings to life all the emotion and especially Erin’s evening with BOB to life very realistically. Wow Jon voice is brought to life dripping with sex appeal by Jeffrey that has all the female listeners seat up and  take notice. The star of the story for me was Max the golden retriever who was the Stray in the title or was  he.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Sierra Kline. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

REVIEW:4.5 STARS

Wow I have been waiting for this book from RC Boldt, Becket was such a great guy in He Loves Me Knot. We get to know him on a more personal level so he deserves a great woman, and Ivy is a great female lead.
When Ivy was in college and with the help of her friends Darcy and Leif they start the company that later becomes Ditched. Beckett is impressed and falls for Ivy straight away. Unfortunately Ivy’s background causes the relationship problems.
This book is as usual, an entertaining romance with a lot more substance that I have come to expect from this Author. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and now I can’t wait for the next one. At the end of the book there is a link to a Bonus content the puts the icing on the cake even though the end put a big smile on my face after all the emotions I was put through while reading.

Pretty Ugly carries on from Pretty Reckless, where we have Chase and Kat getting ready for their wedding day. Unfortunately things don’t always go to plan. I think this book was more intense than the last one. I loved it Jane Anthony had me yelling at my kindle, and I was in from the beginning cheering when needed, smiling when warranted.
This is a must read if you have read Pretty Reckless, if you haven’t start there so you understand the dynamics of their relationship with each other. If you want a pretty Romance then this isn’t for you. This is much more.

Audiobook Blog Tour: ACCEPTING RISK By CANDACE BLEVINS, Narrated Noah Michael Levine

Author: Candace Blevins

Narrator: Noah Michael Levine

Length: 2 hours 57 minutes

Publisher: Candace Blevins

Released: Feb. 21, 2018

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Bethany has joked for years that if she ever settles down, it’ll be with a harem of men, only it isn’t a joke anymore.

Mac is a new werewolf, and still must be watched at every moment to be sure he stays in control. His kink has always been ménage, so when he overhears the beautiful redhead at the bar wanting to take on not only him, but also the werewolf and wereleopard chaperoning his night out… he has to convince them to let him take her home. He might not be trustworthy with a human woman alone, yet, but with two powerful shapeshifters in bed with them, what could go wrong?

Previously published in the Every Which Way Anthology.

Candace Blevins has published more than thirty books. She lives with her husband of twenty years and their two daughters. When not working or driving young teens all over the place, she can be found reading, writing, meditating, or swimming. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhound is usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company.

Candace writes Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Contemporary BDSM Romance, and a kick-ass Motorcycle Club series.

Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.

Candace’s two paranormal romance series, The Chattanooga Supernaturals and The Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club, are both sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.

Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

Noah Michael Levine is an Audie Award-Winning audiobook narrator and producer living in beautiful Nyack, NY. His over 180 titles include almost every genre. While he loves his work completely – and collaborating with all kinds of different authors, he does not love writing about himself in the third person.

Acceptable Risk was originally from an anthology, but now has been released as a novella. The Audiobook is quite short only 2hrs 57mins, so this  is a peek into the one of Candace’s kinky worlds. This one is like most women’s dreams. There you are sitting with your best friend and 3 gorgeous men walk into the bar and you turn to your friend in this case its Jenny. “I wouldn’t mind those three in my harem,” not expecting the men to hear what I said. One problem they are all shifters and they heard, and volunteer for the harem. This is an entertaining story with plenty of sex and kink, but I found it funny in places. The narrator was faultless, a good narrator for me is someone that does multiple voices, So that when you’re in the story without thinking the accent on that one is dodgy. The guys were individual, and it was like listening to a group of guys chatting.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Candace Blevins. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Q&A with Author Candace Blevins

  • Was a possible audiobook recording something you were conscious of while writing?
    • Not at all. I wrote this for an anthology years ago, and published it as a novella when the rights returned to me. It’s a nice entry into both my Chattanooga Supernaturals series and my Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club series, so it seemed the perfect choice for my first foray into audio. When I eventually look for narrators for Only Human, my urban fantasy series, I’m going to want a male and female working in tandem, but for my first venture, I thought I should keep it as simple as possible.
  • How did you select your narrator?
    • I have the most awesome reader group ever (Candace’s Kinksters, feel free to look us up on Facebook and come play with us!), and I asked them to tell me their favorite narrators. I listened to the top ten men they listed (with three men and one woman in the menage, it seemed logical to hire a man), and I loved Noah Michael Levine’s voice.
  • How closely did you work with your narrator before and during the recording process? Did you give them any pronunciation tips or special insight into the characters?
    • Noah is a dream to work with. I told him where each character was from, a little about their personalities, and how I envisioned they sounded. It was important we didn’t get a caricature of a southern accent for Jonathan and Bethany, and I think he did a great job.
  • How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for writing?
    • I have so many stories in my head, and I write in several different genres, so burnout isn’t a problem for me. My bikers let me play with antiheroes, my urban fantasy series lets me move away from romance, and my dark series lets me get down and dirty. And of course, I have some romance series where I can let people find their happily ever after. Also, if I tire of writing werewolves, I can switch to vampires, or lions, or even ravens or grizzly bears.
  • Is there a particular part of this story that you feel is more resonating in the audiobook performance than in the book format?
    • Noah Michael Levine’s voice is melt-in-your panties good, especially when he goes all Dom as Ranger. Yummm.
  • What do you say to those who view listening to audiobooks as “cheating” or as inferior to “real reading”?
    • I don’t see it that way at all. Some people learn by seeing, others by hearing. It only makes sense that the auditory crowd would prefer to listen rather than look. All the words are the same — it’s the same book, no matter which format you choose.
  • In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of writing a stand-alone novel vs. writing a series?
    • I’ve only written one stand-alone, and it’s currently banned on Amazon. My publisher is fighting it, but in the meantime, you can find Absolute Power Exchange at Kobo, Apple, Smashwords, BN, and other vendors. The con, obviously, is that once I was done with the couple, I’ll never have an opportunity to visit them again. In a series, I love revisiting couples after their book’s complete, seeing them through the eyes of others, and watching them live out their happily ever after. On the pro side, it was so much easier to write a book without having to constantly stay on top of how the events I was writing would impact the timeline of the rest of the series, or to make sure I stayed true to the rules and personalities of characters from other books. I have four series in one universe, and while I love being able to swap characters around, it takes a lot to keep everything straight.
  • What’s next for you?
    • The eleventh book in my motorcycle club series just released, and I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with readers.I’ve been working on an epic Faerie story on and off for over five years, and last year I put it on Radish, so I was kind of forced to finish it since I had to write to keep up with the chapter releases. It’s currently going under massive revisions, and will be released as four books, titled Slave, Lady, Consort, and Queen. I don’t have release dates yet, but I’m hoping to be able to release each book a month apart.
